Cookie Policy
Last updated: March 25, 2026
ArticleVoice is a product of Moose Media ("we," "us," or "our").
Summary: ArticleVoice uses essential cookies required for the Service to function, and analytics cookies (Google Analytics) on our marketing website and legal pages to understand visitor behavior. We do not use advertising or social media tracking cookies.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, improve efficiency, and provide information to website operators.
2. Cookies We Use
ArticleVoice uses only the following strictly necessary cookies on the publisher dashboard (dashboard.articlevoice.com):
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
av_session |
Authenticates your dashboard session. This is a secure, HTTP-only cookie that keeps you logged in. | Essential | 7 days |
av_csrf |
Protects against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks on form submissions and state-changing requests. | Essential | Session |
Both cookies are:
- HTTP-only: Not accessible to JavaScript, protecting against cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks
- Secure: Only transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
- SameSite: Restricted to same-site requests to prevent cross-site request forgery
3. Analytics Cookies (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics 4 on our marketing website (articlevoice.com) and legal pages to understand how visitors interact with our site. Google Analytics sets the following cookies:
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Distinguishes unique visitors to our site. Used to calculate visitor, session, and campaign data for site analytics reports. | Analytics | 2 years |
_ga_* |
Used by Google Analytics 4 to maintain session state and track interactions across pages. | Analytics | 2 years |
These cookies are set by Google and are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. The data collected is aggregated and anonymized. We do not use Google Analytics to identify individual visitors or to track users across other websites.
You can opt out of Google Analytics in the following ways:
- Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
- Adjust your browser's cookie settings to block third-party cookies
- Use your browser's private/incognito mode
Note: Google Analytics cookies are not used on the publisher dashboard (dashboard.articlevoice.com) or in the audio player embedded on publisher websites. Player analytics are collected through our own server-side event processing and do not involve cookies.
4. Cookies We Do NOT Use
ArticleVoice does not use:
- Advertising or tracking cookies — We do not track users across websites
- Social media cookies — We do not embed social media tracking pixels
- Preference cookies — Dashboard preferences are stored in your account on our server, not in cookies
5. The Audio Player and Cookies
The ArticleVoice audio player embedded on publisher websites does not set any cookies. Player analytics (play events, completion rates) are collected via lightweight API calls using navigator.sendBeacon and do not involve cookies.
6. Third-Party Cookies (VAST Advertising)
If a publisher configures programmatic advertising through a VAST ad tag (available on Business and Enterprise plans), the third-party ad provider may set their own cookies when serving ads. These cookies are controlled by the ad provider, not by ArticleVoice. We recommend that publishers review the cookie and privacy policies of any VAST ad provider they configure.
The ArticleVoice ad network (which serves ads on Starter and Professional plans) does not set any cookies.
7. How to Manage Cookies
Since we only use essential cookies, disabling them would prevent you from logging into the publisher dashboard. However, you can manage cookies through your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions
Blocking our essential cookies will prevent you from using the dashboard, but it will not affect the audio player on publisher websites (which does not use cookies).
8. Changes to This Policy
If we introduce any new cookies in the future, we will update this policy and, if the new cookies are not strictly necessary, implement appropriate consent mechanisms.
