Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 25, 2026
ArticleVoice is a product of Moose Media ("we," "us," or "our"). We operate the ArticleVoice platform, including the website at articlevoice.com, the publisher dashboard, WordPress plugin, JavaScript embed, audio player, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our Service.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with applicable privacy legislation, including Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Publisher Account Information
When you register for an ArticleVoice account, we collect:
- Your name and email address
- Your website URL
- Billing information (processed and stored by Stripe; we do not store credit card numbers)
- Subscription plan selection
- Player configuration preferences (colors, style, position)
- Voice and pronunciation settings
1.2 Article Content
When you submit articles for audio generation, we receive the article title, author name, category, URL, and full text content. We process this content through our text-to-speech pipeline and then discard the original text. We retain only a cryptographic hash (SHA-256) of the cleaned article content for change detection purposes. We do not store the original article text after processing is complete.
1.3 Audio Files
Generated audio files (MP3 format) are stored on Google Cloud Storage and served through our content delivery network. Audio files are retained for as long as your subscription is active.
1.4 Analytics Data
When listeners interact with the audio player on your website, we collect:
- Play, pause, and completion events
- Playback position and speed settings
- Device type (desktop, mobile, or tablet)
- Country (derived from IP address)
- Browser user agent string
- A one-way hash of the listener's IP address (we never store raw IP addresses)
1.5 Website Analytics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics 4 on our marketing website and legal pages to understand how visitors interact with our site. Google Analytics collects:
- Page views and pages visited
- Session duration and bounce rate
- Device type, browser, and operating system
- Approximate geographic location (city/country level, derived from IP address)
- Referral source (how you arrived at our site)
This data is aggregated and anonymized. We do not use Google Analytics to identify individual visitors. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device (see our Cookie Policy for details). You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by adjusting your browser's cookie settings.
1.6 Ad Interaction Data
If advertising is enabled on your account, we collect impression and completion data for ad creatives, including which ad was served and whether the listener heard it to completion.
1.7 Cookies
We use only essential cookies required for the Service to function. See our Cookie Policy for details.
2. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained while your account is active and for 30 days after cancellation to allow for reactivation
- Audio files: Retained while your subscription is active. Deleted within 30 days of account cancellation
- Article content: Not retained after processing. Only a SHA-256 content hash is stored for change detection
- Analytics data: Individual play events are retained for 90 days, after which they are aggregated into summary statistics. Aggregated data is retained indefinitely
- IP address hashes: Stored with play events for 90 days, then discarded during aggregation
- Billing records: Retained as required by applicable tax and financial regulations (typically 7 years)
5. Advertising and the Ad Network
ArticleVoice offers advertising features depending on your subscription plan:
- Starter and Professional plans: ArticleVoice may serve pre-roll audio advertisements through our ad network before your article audio. ArticleVoice retains the revenue from these advertisements. You may not disable ad network ads on these plans.
- Business and Enterprise plans: You may configure your own VAST-compliant ad tag to serve advertisements and retain the revenue. You may also opt out of the ArticleVoice ad network entirely.
- Direct ad uploads: On plans that support it, you may upload your own audio ad creatives, which are served as pre-roll before article audio.
When programmatic ads (VAST) are served, the ad provider may set their own cookies and collect data independently. We do not control third-party ad providers' data practices. We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of any VAST ad provider you configure.
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:
- API keys are cryptographically hashed (bcrypt) before storage; plaintext keys are never retained
- Dashboard authentication uses secure, HTTP-only cookies with CSRF protection
- All data in transit is encrypted using TLS (HTTPS)
- Listener IP addresses are one-way hashed before storage; we cannot reverse the hash to recover the original IP
- Database access is restricted by network firewall rules
- The WordPress plugin encrypts stored API tokens at rest
- We use parameterized database queries to prevent SQL injection
- Rate limiting is applied to all API endpoints
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
